A re-worked Alice Porter especially for Christmas. With orange zest, cacao and a tiny bit of chilli.

The perfect beer for Turkey, The Queen’s Speech, boring relativies and boozed up Pictionary.

Merry Christmas.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Black dark brown colour with small beige head. Aroma a bit oaty, bit chocolate malt, but not really much else. Taste is touch of vanilla, bit of milky coffee and a touch of smoke. Slighty spicy which gives a bit of a prickle in the mouth. Much prefer the Alice Porter, but this is a bit festive I guess.

330ml bottle thanks to the hallowed Garvie cellars. Pours opaque dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of chocolate and liquorice. Taste is sweet, faint orange, light chilli at the back. Held up very well. A good festive tipple.

(Bottle, as "Winter Porter") Dark brown colour, almost black, with hints of ruby when seen through light. Frothy pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, black rye bread, a touch of smoke, liquorice, cocoa and roasted nuts. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, cocoa, black rye bread, coffee, liquorice, black rye bread, some smoke and a certain spicy bitterness in the finish. Some chilli comes through after a couple of sips. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. The chilli and smoke makes it a bit different, but it’s quite nice.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 06.11.2013
Aroma is somewhat spicy and a bit musty with cocoa powder, soy sauce and peppery spices. Flavour has soy sauce, some alcohol, spicy notes and . A bit leathery palate and dry finish. Very slight feeling of chili – and it might be placebo as well. Not very good but not bad either.

330ml bottle

BBE 06-11-13 - Pours dark reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma of spices, roasted malts, ripe fruits and ash. Taste is metallic, spicy and roasty with notes of ash. Finish is warming, spicy and slightly roasty with some hints of fruitiness and metallic notes. Feels a bit unbalanced.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown, close to black body with a beige head. Aroma of dark, roasted malt with some spices or herbs. Flavor is sweet, dark malt, light roasted, moderate bitter with a spicy touch. Fine body and good aftertaste. A pleasant one.
