Bottle. A clear, dark brown beer topped by a small, dark beige head. Dried fruits, caramel, some toffee and bread on the nose. The flavor is roasted and toffee-ish, with caramel, dark dried fruits and some bread. A little bitterness too. It’s full-bodied and quite dry on the palate, with a soft carbonation level. Lasting roasted finish. A quite nice one, hiding the alcohol well. 140823

Colour of ultra-strong black tea; good brown-cream head, not very stable. Rainwater, wet dog, green leaves (aucuba), wet grain, dog chewing sticks. Suggestion of sweetness, almost no hint - if any - of roastiness? Japwater, liquoriceextract on water; sweet, very light roastiness, maybe slightly stronger retronasal. Warming up, marzipan, amandine at first; Much later finally roastiness in full, like Haagse Hopjes. Not very well-bodied. Medium to good carbonation, faint grist slickness. Quite the letdown. This isn’t porter - nor in the Baltic, neither in the British interpretation. Sweet Schwarzbier, if you need a category. Thanks, Aga & dad!

Clear, dark brown, small light brown head. Aroma of coffee, sweet liquorice, which dominates the taste. Also some roasted malt, boozy alcohol, bitterness. Soft carb. Nice.

Bottle, 9%. Good roasted aroma, sweet liquorice. Black colour. Semi-stable dark brown head. The flavour is very roasted, alcoholic, bitter, sourish with a distinct dose of raw liquorice. Late roasted aftertaste, still quite bitter. The sourness is a bit like old, wet rag, bacterial infection. Very rare in a Baltic porter, fortunately. Not past BB date.

Bottle shared by Erwin van Moll @ Van Moll Brewpub. Very dark brown to black color with a nice deep dark red glare coming through, small light brown head. Aroma has malts, ripe yet uncut sweet melon, ripe grapes, raisins, sweetish, lightly alcohol. Taste malts, lightly roasted malts, chocolate, bitter in the finish, yet slightly a sweet hint in the initial flavor. Medium body and carbonation. Nice one!
