Fugitive is a Fruited Brut IPA, and a collaboration with Verdant Brewing Co.
It’s a big, bold beer. It’s been fermented way down low in true Brut style, then liberally dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Vic Secret, before being brought right back up to life again with bucket-loads of passion fruit, mango, peach and pineapple puree.
Goes well with seafood tapas.
Featuring Adam, a Verdant honcho and a man on the run.

Brut IPA ‘fruited’ with mango, pineapple, peach and passionfruit, a collaboration of Gipsy Hill (a craft brewer in London) with the more familiar Verdant. Thanks to sebletitje and tderoeck for sharing. Egg-white, loose and open, bubbly, quickly disappearing head over a cloudy peach blonde beer with egg-yolk-like hue. Aroma of (strong) mango jam, canned pineapple slices, guava, orange, passionfruit lemonade, ripe yellow raspberries, sugared lemon juice, ripe melon, moist white pepper, dough. Sweet onset completely drenched in a truckload of tropical fruitiness, with mango and ripe peach being a bit more prominent than passionfruit and pineapple but still all recognizable; soft carb, smooth mouthfeel, with a very thick layer of tropical sweet fruit purée resting heavily on top of a doughy, fluffy malt base. Still ends rather dry, with refreshing fruitiness (again the mango dominating) and a light peppery touch. Granted, this beer feels drier in its basic structure than a typical NEIPA would so I guess it qualifies as a brut IPA, but then this huge dosage of sweet fruitiness kind of nullifies that effect – so that the end result is again very ‘alcoholic fruit juice’-like, as would be the case with most NEIPAs... In short: this one did not succeed in convincing me of the benefits of that new brut IPA thing, I’m afraid, though it certainly was easy and pleasant to drink.

Can courtesy of and shared with Tderoeck @ Taquito and buffalo turds night. BB 28/05/2019.
