Bottle courtesy of Jonas cheers Jonas! Had this Saturday 14th February at the Manglham 2nd Winter Tasting listening to Barnes Courtenay. Pours dark brown, peeling away at the edges, it's aged and I like it, it goes well with a dark chocolate gooseberry brownie. Tasty beer, I like the way the age see's it falling away a little, it's got very interesting with age. Barrel ageing has really helped. Score 7.3

2016 vintage, like everybody else. Courtesy of Jonas (like maybe everybody else?), of course, Mangled Ham 2026. Murky dark brown body, off-white head. Oxidized nutty oaky, raisiny, vanilla aroma. Walnut, vanilla, lean, bit chocolatey, oxidation, quite good really even if a bit old!

Flascherl (many thanks to Joss!):Deep ruby-amber coloured, lots of floaties visible, small and stable off-white head;; solid sweet nose of caramel, wood with vanilla, port-wine and dried fruits, some hoppy spots hardly detectable; solid sweet flavour, full bodied, a bit sticky, but nevertheless smooth; mild traces of brandy in the sweet caramelly finish. Surely a goody...

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, ruby amber colour with a beige and short foamy head. Oaky vanilla aroma with mildly syrupy dark malt, caramel, and dried fruity notes of figs and raisins. Sweet flavour with a tinge of tartness, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Dark malty and oaky vanilla-laden taste with vinous dried fruity notes, French fruit cake, caramel and a mildly warming whiff of booze towards the lasting and rounded vinous finish. Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing! Smooth sweetish beginning. Round, refreshing, mild. The wood from the Whisky-barrel with the great peated aroma is there, the body of the beer is grainy with hints of burned sugars and caramel. Intense and round, not too sweetish. Fantastic harmony between the whisky-wood and the roasted dark beer. Great deep and intense aftertaste. Mild, not too sweetish, round.

Dunkel malzig vanilliger Antrunk. Wenig herb, steigende Intensität. Eher geringe Süße, recht holzig. Dabei erstaunlicherweise kaum bzw. gar nicht alkoholisch, sehr weich. Dabei könnte im Nachgeschmack sogar noch etwas mehr Intensität vorhanden sein. Sehr gutes Bier, an dem nur noch ein paar kleine Details verbesserungswürdig sind. 7/12/12/13/11/12

Bottle. Dark amber-brown color with beige head. Aroma is a bit of coffee, raisins, brown sugar, oak. Taste is brown sugar, chocolate, quite some oak, toffee, warming finish. Medium carbonation. Nice and well-balanced!
