Taste: Sweet sherry and dark chocolate jumps onto the tongue with raisins and dried figs following as the glass warms. Cloves, ginger and pralines slide down with just a hint of fondant icing before finally smooth anise with vinous notes of cherry wine remains on the tongue until the next sip.

15/2/2025. Bottle at the ITFC vintage and rare Saturday share part 2. From Beerdome online store. Pours rich black with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is black treacle, roasted malts, meaty, liquorice, toffee, woody, boozy, wine, dried fruits, figs. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Lovely stuff.

Bottle. Pours a thick black with a tan head. Aroma is complex dark malts, fruity, lots of berries, caramel, prunes, sherry. Full body, sweet and woody. Lots of dark malt complexity, lots of caramel, prunes, and fig. Very sweet, with lots of wood and sherry sweetness from the barrel. Some spice and fruit from the rye whisky BA, which comes out especially in the finish. Very nice as always from pohjala, if a bit on the sweet side.

12th October 2023 Near opaque dark brown black beer, small pale tan head. Smooth dark malts, a little dark malt cream and a little dark chocolate Malteasers. The joint barrelling brings a PX sherry ripe rich fruits with a somewhat dank wet wood barrel and a little oaky vanilla. The rye whiskey is the lesser participant here but brings its own fruity whiskey that blends with the sherry and brings overall a sweeter but very rich and tasty BA beer.

bottle, As kihoskh winterproof Perfect imp stout aroma, lots of roasted malts, some wood and boozy ba notes to round it off. This aroma is really something, potent, balanced, complex, wood , dark fruits, roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, fainter salty wood. wow. Also looks very good, pitch dark smooth small brown head. flavor is quite a lot of barrel aged notes, wood, booze flavours, roasted malts, peppery note, brown sugar, faint sweet fruity note, coffee. One of the better barrel aged beers out of this brewery imho. Solid - balanced.

Bottle, as Winterproof. A black one, with a small tan head. Roasted malts, booze, vinous hints, dark dried fruit, dark sugar, dark malts, spiced rye hints, coffee and some faint woody notes. It's full-bodied, warming and softly carbonated, with coffee, dark dried fruit, roasted malts and some boozy notes, in a good way. Rye, coffee and a touch of wood. Lasting finish. Really delicious this one. Tasteful, moreish and delicious. 230121

Bottle as Pohjala/Kihosk Winterproof. Oily black, small tan head. Heavy dark malty, barrel, PX and whisky aroma, caramel and choc. Bittersweet flavour, barrel and sweet sherry, dark malt, whisky warmth. Dangerously drinkable.
