This golden ale carries notes of passion fruit and honey in the aroma. A suggestion of biscuit is found in the beer’s varied palate. Brewed with our 2-row barley blend, hopped with Nugget and Hallertau, then fermented on our house yeast, Tripel offers up a complex, yet dry finish.

Probably the best-known American representative of the tripel style, with stable, off-white, lacing foam and hazy golden blonde colour. Appealing aroma of pear syrup, dough, cider, fresh cream, young cheese, iron; taste soft apple-like fruitiness, soft and creamy mouthfeel, rounded, in the end some aromatic and light peppery hops, floral, alcohol very well hidden. Very enjoyable and close to the best Belgian tripels. A vintage bottle of a few years old recently tasted, revealed an exceptionally soft, much sweeter and more ’exotic’ beer with fascinating hints of vanilla beans, marzipan and candied orange; clearly a beer well suited for cellaring, and I take the result of that into account for my rating here.

Reviewed from notes.
I poured this one into mostly chalices over the years but also had it in a couple tulips from time to time. There wasn’t any noticeable differences between the two.
The appearance had a nice looking hazy golden yellow color to it with a decent transparency about it. Some light carbonation is seen rising.
The smell had a nice arrangement of spiced apples, iced apples, earthy yeast, and some Belgian sugars.
The taste takes all of those flavors and combines them to make a wonderful complexity about this beer.
The palate was fairly light but made me want to think it came across closer to a medium on the body. The carbonation has a decent acceptable sharpness about it.
Overall, I say this was a great tripel well worthy of having again.

Drought. Golden yellow with beige creamy head, doughy aroma, low carbonation, sweetish taste with strong alcohol in the background, rich bodiy, alcohol aftertaste after a medium finish. The alcohol taste is too prominent and somehow destroys the taste buds.

Bottle. Poured a nice, slightly hazy, vibrant orange color with a medium sized, foamy white head. Aroma is citrus oranges, coriander, other various spices. Touch of yeasty bananas, dry honey notes to this one too. Spice note is quite nice, with some citrus and hoppy notes to round out this one. Pretty darn good.

Purchased at Evolution Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a cool July Tuesday night. Appearance is a pale semi cloudy gold with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma is rich in clove, honey, banana, bubblegum, and other sweet flavors with a touch of spice. Smells great. Taste is easy drinking with a very light finishing burn, definitely doesn’t taste like a 9% ABV brew. This is pretty dry, almost champagne like but with a bit of honey. Great stuff, deceptive.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks kerenmk. Batch #189. Hazy deep golden with a big white head. Aroma has some fruity esters, yeast, light spiciness and a bit of wheat. Flavor starts slightly sweetish and fruity, continues spicy yeasty and drier a bit of bitterness and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.
