Grains of Truth is Ommegang’s ale honoring the harvest season. Using barley, oats, wheat, and rye, we’ve brought the mood of fall to life with vibrant and flavorful passion.
Brewed with balance in mind, Grains of Truth reveals a smooth and creamy mouthfeel with light toastiness and gentle sweetness. Bright amber in color from the mixed malts, the beer is balanced with delicate hopping to counter rather than overpower the malt profile.

Bottle. Grainy malt (rye dominates) aroma with a hint of lemon and cherry. Golden yellow with giant fluffy head. Sweet-tart lemon and grainy malt flavor - again, rye seems to be the most prominent but a nice blending. Mildly bitter lemon peel finish. Very tasty.

An amber copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a smooth fruity malt with grassy notes, treacle, orange peels and coriander, nice and smooth. In mouth, a creamy smooth vanilla malt with coriander, curacao, alcohol warmth, nice and silky. On tap at Snallygaster DC, Oct. 13 2012.

Nice crisp amber tinted copper glow with a thin one centimetre slightly off-white head. Aroma of nice pungent yeast with a peppery note, some light malt and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Very noticeable belgie yeast strain with a lot of hay and grass characteristics, some lighter malt flavours and a hint of light fruity sweetness at the tail end. Aftertaste shows a complex flavour stemming from the yeast and branching to the malt and sweetness - a nice beer for sure, one to sample if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean,Virginia on 07-November-2012 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 08-December-2012.

Growler from Tap It in Alpharetta. Hazy caramel color with a small, thick, beige head and lots of lacing. Notes up front of mulled cider, rye bread, and light citrus and fruity esters. Some spiciness in the background, including coriander and black pepper. Very sweet and malty, with a subtle hop bitterness. Medium body, acidic, and very bubbly. This is a very delicious beer. Complex, thick, and surprisingly sessionable.

GABF 2012, Friday. Sweet malt and hops with Belgian yeast, which gives an earthy character. Good palate, like most of their beers. Good palate. l thought this was higher in alcohol while drinking it.

Pour is a cloudy amber with a large whtie head. Aroma is a nice rye malt with some citrus hops. Flavor is fruity hops with some yeast and a nice spicy rye malt toward the end. Finish is bitter with some honeydew left on the tounge. This is a well made beer as there are many things coming out the please the sences.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy copper with a 3 finger fizzy/creamy off-white head. Aroma (through all that head) is lightly spicy. Might be from rye. Full bodied. Foamy carbonation. The flavor is very Belgian. Definitely earthy with rye. Dry, almost astringent. Hop is decent - but whether it’s rye bitter or hop bitter? Very, very tasty.

Draft poured into a goblet. Pours a dark orange with some dark white head. Aroma of grains, a little citrus and some spices. Taste is about the same. I really don’t get any rye whatsoever. Overall, good but not great. I would drink it again, but I wouldn’t seek it out.
