Brewed to celebrate our 7th birthday and our first year of production at our Croydon site, The Imperial Baltic Porter reaffirms our commitment to the histories and traditions of Porter brewing.

Developed by brewers in the Baltic states when trying to emulate the exported Porters of the UK, bottom fermenting Lager yeast and cold fermentations were used in place of warm, Ale fermentations. Aromas of chocolate and roasted coffee dominate the nose, along with notes of herbs & spice. The palate is smooth and chocolatey, with a touch of sweetness balanced by a gentle bitterness.

Pours near black with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, liquorice, jam and wood. Taste has quite a dark fruit jammy fruitiness with roasted malts, chocolate, wood, mild dryness in the finish, some peppery spice. Medium to full bodied with nice tingle of carbonation. Very nice.

440ml can - Pours a deep dark brown colour with a small frothy beige head that settled. The aroma is dark chocolate, prunes, raisins and coffee notes. A roasted malty taste, brown bread, cocoa powder, treacle and woody flavours with a warming, drying, roasted bitter finish.

Can, picked up at the tap room the other Sunday. Clear, deep cola brown. Slim ring of beige. Nose has nuts and cocoa. Pretty yeasty. Some wood ash. Taste has a nutty woody sweetness. Gets dry and light bitter. Smooth mouthfeel sits well at the hefty ABV. Fine carbonation. Yeasty dryness to finish.
