500ml Bottle - Dark amber with copper red tinges and a good head. Very smoky aroma with notes of beech, ash, bacon and some fruity hints. The taste is smoky (yet not as much as the aroma suggested it would be) and moderately sweet with notes of beech, maple syrup, brown sugar, pecan nuts, smoked ham and plums. The smokiness is very evident yet it also has an understated complexity and a drinkability that belies its potent strength.

A dark brown Bock with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of peated smoked malt, light esters, dark fruits, very nice and complex. In mouth, sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of dark fruits, molasses, plums, peated notes, bacon, alcohol warmth, very nice. Bièropholie imports, Bottle is 6 years old.

Rerate from bottle. Quite a bit smoked fish today. Niche wood smoke in the aroma. Bonito on the palate. Fruity chewy malt. Very good. Tap. Dark red, offwhite lace. Herbal, roasted and BBQ notes, fat chewy grilled fruits, grain, solid.

Tap at Fränkisches Bierfest. Slightly hazy reddish-brown color with tan head. Aroma is smoked ham, barbecue coal, some Franconian juicy malts. Taste is smoked ham, sweet malts. Medium carbonation, oily moutfeel. Very nice!

Just what I want in a rauch. Well smoked, meaty, sweet, something bitter, soft mouthfeel and some alcoholkick. Nothing special, but yum!

At a tasting, many thanks, small creamy bubbly head, clear deep red to brown color, aroma of smoked meat caramel and a candy hint, flavor of candy smoked cheese caramel, and a subdued hint of alcohol, mellow smokey and candy aftertaste, light fruity sourness. Good and satisfying, really mellow.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Tom C. Clear reddish amber. Big smoked sausage aroma. Sweet flavor, malty, caramelly, with nuts, toast, and nice sausage-like smokiness. Rounded mouthfeel. Really good.

Bottle from Landbierparadis. Purple-brown color with a thick head. Clear. Nose of chocolate, wood, caramel, cherries. Smoke is on the light side. flavors of chocolate, treacle, light smoke. Slightly roasty finish. A bit leafy and a bit too light in body. Decent but I was expecting more.
