Bottle from Gloucester Services. Deep gold with a white head and a light to moderate fizz. Decent mouthfeel, impressive for a 3.5% brew. Caramel and lemon up front, followed by some marmalade and a touch of green, leafy hop. Rather enjoyed this; too many modern pale ales focus too much on the hops, and forget about the balance and satisfaction that malt flavours can bring to a beer; this one balances the malt and hops very well. Nice one.

Cask @ Pint Pot, Rochdale. Golden with a creamy-frothy head. Malty-hoppy in both aroma and taste within a slightly watery texture, but certainly at a session strength.

[50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring.] A pale golden amber pour with a scummy looking white head; grassy aroma; grainy body with some citrus and hedgerow fruit; then a sharp fruity finish reminding me of damsons. Nice.
