A special project from our brewers Seth & Derek, Corpse Reviver is a sour ale that was fermented in a 3rd-use whiskey barrel, where it aged for a number of months. Fresh meyer lemon zest was then added along with a heavy-handed amount of Crystal and Mandarina Bavaria hops.

Tasting at Matt’s; 5.4% ABV, with Crystal and Hallertau Blanc hops, probably batch 2
Cloudy blond color. The aroma is very flowery, some lemon zest, some cleaning product, lemon popsicle; not bad, but weird in a beer. Nice flavor of lemon and slat, very sour, leading to strong final astringency.

Cloudy and pale. On the nose, has a lemon balm aroma (I guess that’s the meyer lemon zest), with a nice tartness, and a lot of lemon. Good body, touch of yeast. I really enjoy the lemon character on this one, and it’s well-integrated.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lovely effervescent lemons upfront, with a lovely floral character and some tartness. Flavour is hugely citric, with loads of fresh lemons upfront, followed by ample tartness and light whiskey. One of the better lemon beers out there no doubt. Very good.

Tap. Hazy golden color with small head. Aroma is candy, lemon, slightly artificial, maybe also a bit fruits from the hops. Taste is candy, lemon rind, stomach acid, very sour finish. Medium carbonation. Okay.
