Quite simply, the way it should be - roasty wholesemness flowing throughout an incredibly rich body.

Csk at Old Fountain. Shiny pitch black with a lovely thick tan head. Cocoa/chocolate nose, light cafe au lait, bit of soy. Dry bit rich, chocolate, blackberry, milk. Very tasty and drinkable, light to medium roast, tangy hop finish. Good stuff.

Bottle shared at Chris and Ruth’s pre-GBBF tasting 2015 - London. Thanks to Daniel. Pours clear, deep brown with a tan cream head. Dry chocolate in the aroma, with light roast, some woody notes. Light sweet flavor with a bit of creamy milk chocolate, ash, earthy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Dry and a little oily on the finish, with lingering bittersweet cocoa. Nice stout.

Pre GBBF tasting as Chris and Ruth’s. Clear dark amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry with modest fine carbonation. Fluffy dark malts with an edge of roasty bitterness. Some dark malt tang and a little lactose. Coffee in the dry finish. Standard stuff done well.

660ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty, spicy, salty, dark malty aroma, notes of roasted nuts, oyster, soy sauce. Taste is roasty dark malty, hints of roasted nuts, bitter hoppy overtones, a minimally metallic touch; smooth, silky palate, soft carbonation. Really good!
