Spezial Hell

Klosterbrauerei Andechs in Andechs, Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪

Lager - Märzen / Festbier Regular
Score
6.51
ABV: 5.9% IBU: - Ticks: 181
Its clear gleaming look and firm, fine pored head goes hand in hand with its fresh and pure aroma. Malty nuances are the first impressions.

Spezial Hell is pleasantly tangy with a full, round malt body that cannot fail to fascinate. The soft flavour carries a distinctive balance of sweet accents and bitter hoppiness.

It concludes on equally soft malty nuances – a classical festival beer in the tradition of old Bavarian brewing (13.5% original extract and 5.9% alcohol by volume).

Bottle. Clear gold with thin white head, some retention around the edge. Aroma of bready sweet malts, honey, pear skins, touch of spice. Taste of sweet breads and grain, butter, grass, hints of toffee and spice. Medium bodied, some slickness and moderate carbonation. A bit cleaner and less fusty than most in this style while still keeping a good malt depth. Its a thumbs up with sickening grin from me.

16 oz draft. Flavor of honey, grain, maybe a splash of vanilla. Light body and a decent crispness. Pretty good lager from the “Father Country”. Light as expected.

As Festbier. Lurid gold with a white head. Aroma of sweet bread, weeds. But does have a rich malty taste with bread, some caramel and then firmish bitterness with some grass and spice.
