Buddel: Hazy, deep amber coloured with a reddish sheen, small persistent off-white foamy layer, distinctive nutty-toasty nose, robust fruity-yeasty spots underneath, herbal hops as well; nearly solid sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied, soft; lingering - and a bit drier - bitter-sweet fruity and herbal-bitter finish with a delicate alk-burn in the aftertaste. Great winter-warmer....

Bottle, thanks for sharing! Pours a clear deep amber with a near white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has some light tart fruits with a bit of dates, sweet grains and a bit of toffee. Flavor has lots of dates and toffee with a bit of sweet grains underlying.

375ml bottle from Brewdog Birmingham. Hazed deep amber appearance, beige head. Sweet toffee nose. Simply glows with La Trappe's usual quality, lovely silky smooth mouthfeel with a very mild Scottish honey presence. Excellent.

750ml bottle. Really unattractive label, amateur new school look, surprisingly La Trappe would go along with that. Chock full of floaties. The honey is pretty mellow at first, but shows in the aftertaste. Pretty good, but not really on the same level as most of the classic La Trappe offerings. Drinks really easy for 10%. Has some of that brown candi sugar loveliness, but lacks the true body that you know La Trappe can accomplish. Bonus points for enlightening me to Scottish Heather Honey. I'd probably like it a lot better if it had a more traditional label to tell you the truth, because a Trappist Honey Quad is cool. Good beer despite my back and forth review.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a La Trappe chalice. Opaque ruby brown colour, good moussy off-white head, slowly dissipating, thin layer with yeast circles remains, good lacing. Aroma roasted malts, liquorice, caramel, stewed fruit, sweet syrup, dried fruits, alcohol. Smooth taste, light light heavy sweet and light bitter, roasted malts, caramel, sugar syrup, dried fruits, candy sugar, alcohol. Full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, smooth creamy sweetbitter aftertaste, malty and spicy notes, well-hidden warming alcohol, easy to drink, very well-balanced, very enjoyable, excellent!

Bottle. Good malty aroma, dried figs, brown sugar, malt syrup. Cloudy dark brown colour. Good stable off-white head. The flavour is sweet, fruity, malty with brown sugar notes and a peppery and bitter alcohol note. Unsurprisingly, reminds me of La Trappe Quadrupel, which I love. As it warms, I can taste a mild waxy honey note. The alcohol bitterness in the finish puts me off a bit.
