Saison Houblon undergoes massive dry hopping i.e. addition of hop flowers in the maturation tank. This allows the hop flavours to be extracted, but nottheir bitterness. The North American hop varieties that are used yield powerful citrus and exotic fruit notes on a spicy background. A pre-dinner drink par excellence, sparkling, crisp and fresh, Saison Houblon goes well with fresh goat cheese, falafel, white fish and seafood. 35 IBU. Hops : Columbus, Centennial. Summer version with Swiss raspberries added at secondary fermentation.

(Bottle) Golden colour with big, frothy, white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with grass, citrus, spicy yeast, herbs and lots of fresh perfumy hops. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, grass, spicy/estery yeast, bread, herbs and a balanced citric bitterness in a finish with fresh hops. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and really well balanced with lots of fresh hops, still not overly bitter. Well made, and very nice.

Many thanks for this beer to CH-303. Bottle 33cl and it is 7% ABV (Version with Yakima Hops). Sour, hops, Sour, hops, Sour, Hops, Sour and hops. I’m forget about something??? Yes This...beer is strong sour and perfectly and powerfull hoppy Ale:) Wonderfull hops aroma, taste like lime, fresh yellow citrus and strong sourly lemon juice, like a wild yeast sediment. Big and strong foam, absolutly dry, no sugary. I’m love it. Smells like fresh green apple. Thanks for this great sour saison ale Asbjorn.

Appearance: Hazy pale yellow. Slight white head.
Aroma: Tart fruit, not much else for me.
Taste: Sour, tart fruit. Not very saison to me, more of a sour/wild ale...

Draught at Julian’s, 11/6/16.
Mostly clear, bright, blonde-bronze body is topped by a small, fleeting, white head.
The nose is full of both fruity, rather citrusy hops, as the name would suggest and lightly fruity esters. Light greenery, woody notes and a pinch of pine and grapefruit rind don’t really impress so much as dull the Belgian character. Light lactic acid on the finish and a rather grainy, sparse malt profile behind it, with no alcohol or flaw.
Surprisingly quite tart in the mouth; much more than the aroma suggested, with lots of lactic character and light grapefruit/pine from the hops. Not resinous, yet nor is it particularly enjoyable, just being rather bitter and not working well with the sourness and thin, nearly over-attenuated body/texture. Grainy, dry, too acidic. Blah.

Tap at CBFZ 2016. Intense saison yeast and peppers. Some farmhouse, balanced by some grassy aroma hops. High bitterness, good sweetness, lively carbonation. Light sourness, tart. Short finish except for a lasting bitterness. Good.

First rating 2015 :) Cloudy yellow color with medium stable head. Grassy-herbal hops complement a nice dry spicy saison taste. A hint of gooseberries in the aroma there. Perly carbonation, gone rather quickly. Does not have the metallic finish that I often have with Trois Dames. Not as amazing as aroma-hopped saisons, but still very nice!
