Saison Houblon undergoes massive dry hopping i.e. addition of hop flowers in the maturation tank. This allows the hop flavours to be extracted, but nottheir bitterness. The North American hop varieties that are used yield powerful citrus and exotic fruit notes on a spicy background. A pre-dinner drink par excellence, sparkling, crisp and fresh, Saison Houblon goes well with fresh goat cheese, falafel, white fish and seafood. 35 IBU. Hops : Columbus, Centennial. Summer version with Swiss raspberries added at secondary fermentation.

2013-06-29, draught at Pibar, Lausanne, 8-4-8-4-16=40
Cloudy orange-amber color with compact head. Very nice aroma of West Coast hops, fresh, fruity. Dynamic mouthfeel, with a good malt and toffee flavor, semi sweet; some dust, prominent spiciness from the yeast, good bitterness level, with plenty of hop fruitiness.
Dirty but excellent.

Hazy orange-amber color; nice creamy head, persistent. Despite having been stored in good conditions for a few months, the aroma shows not only the expected Saison spices, but also a light suspicious sourness. Good malt flavor and some caramel; the hop is very fruity, a wonderful signature; just after come the spices and unfortunately the light sourness, that leaves a dry mouthfeel too. Correct bitterness.
Undoubtly good and interesting, but probably this bottle is a bit spoiled.

Bottle: Poured a dirty dark beige color ale with a small foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian malt with floral and dry hops and a bready yeast finish. Taste is a quite particular mix between some nice floral hops with Belgian malt backbone and a yeasty presence that brings some fruity ester to the mix. Body is full with limited filtration and average carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Interesting mix thought not something I would wish to go for very often.

A golden IPA with a thick creamy white head. A pleasant cereal and grassy hops in aroma, with wild herbs. In mouth, a very pleasant creamy ale with light notes of cloves and good hops. Medium bodied. Tasted at Mondiale 2007.

Bottled, thanks Bov! Cloudy golden, airy head. Perfumy hoppy spicy nose. Lies rounded, lively and spritzy in the mouth. Estery flavour of winegum mixed cith citric hops. Intensive but in superb balance. Combines a perfect saison with an IPA, kind of what many Belgian brewers been trying to do, but this art is now perfected in Switzerland instead.

Bottled 75 cl (BB 10/2008)
Orange color, huge cloudy white head. Very fresh piney and fruity aroma - huge nose. Propably American hops are used. Very crisp carbonation. Now flavor has saison-like barnyard, but mainly this brew is very hoppy - very IPA-like. Also grain, pineapple and resin. Nice mix of Belgian Saison and American IPA. One of the better Swiss beers.
