IPA - Imperial / Double Special
Score
7.46
ABV: 8.0% IBU: - Ticks: 32
An 8% double IPA using Golden Promise, Oats and Wheat in the mash for a smooth rounded mouthfeel. Heavily hopped in whirlpool and dry-hop at around 13g/l with Simcoe, Amarillo, CTZ and Mosaic Lupulin powder, de-bittered leaf pellets and LupuLN2 pellets. The hops giving familiar citrus and stone fruit flavours with a slightly dank edge. The beer was fermented with London Ale II, which adds a berry/stone fruit aroma and a slightly sweet finish.

50cl can shared by FatPhil - thanks! Slightly hazy golden with a modest, white head. Hoppy, fruity and mildly malty with herbal and citrusy notes. Rather tasty.

Can from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy light golden colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, light alcohol, citrus fruits, woody hop. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a smooth, fresh, crisp, fruity, light pepper spice, dry woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. A very nicely balanced beer. Lots of fruit and the alcohol is well in the background.

500mL can, pours an opaque cloudy orange with a medium white head. Aroma reveals lots of fresh resinous and piney hops upfront, with a touch of tropical fruits, and light caramel biscuity malt. Flavour coats the palate with wonderful piney and resinous hops. Somewhat fruity as well, but the piney and resinous hop character really are just lovely. Another excellent IIPA by these guys.

Can picked up from Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham. consumed at Fire in the Mountain Festival, nr Aberystwyth, Wales. Friday 1st June 2018 Difficult to be exacting on colour owing to green plastic glass that is festooned with a Northern Rock Patrons Project label. Hoppy from the off, juicy from the of with pineapple, grapefruit and sweet orange jostling for supremacy. Bitterness is there but sweetness wins out, a little bit of pine resin also into the fray. Good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Draft sample @ Tilquin English Beerfest 2018.
