Colchester Beer Festival. Cask. Almost clear amber beer, a few pale cream colour bubbles. Light palate, semi dry. modest carbonation. Smooth malts, mildly sweet. Contrasting bitter floralness and tangy dried fruits. Ripe fruits. Floral tangy finish. Comes over as a tangy bitter more than an old ale. Fine.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 27 Nov 2010) Dark amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, orange and dusty hops. Malty, slightly fruity taste with grainy malt, orange, apricots and a mild bitterness. Rather light body, with balanced sweetness. Nice and quite enjoyable.

Cask handpull The Edgar Wallace, London. Copper, lasting beige head. Great pump clip in the shape of a question mark. Bit of green apple settles down into an OK bitter. Like biting into a golden delicious apple though. Green apple suggests that it isn’t quite ready. OK condiition but can’t help feel that 2 more days in the cellar would help it. Bit tight on the tongue.

Cask@GBBF2007. Deep golden colour, not much head. Aroma is wooden and fruity hops. Flavour is the same with a sweet wooden sting in the aftertaste.
