Many thanks for this beer to Jacek Wigier (wineofdreams@gmail.com). Ananas gora, slodowa, typowa podbudowa belgijska. Ogolnie fajne, ale liczylem na wiecej

33cl bottle from Carrefour market @ in Tervuren near Brussels. F: medium, egg-white, good retention C: orange gold, hazy. A: malty, fruity, pear, orange peels, spicy, yeasty, bit honey. T: medium malty backbone, orange peels, spicy, yeasty, oxidation, bit harsh bitterness, honey, fruity, medium body and carbonation, bit more on the sweet side with not harmonic bitterness and all together bit messy for me so nothing I would buy again.

Old school Belgian blonde brewed for some local 'giants' tradition in Veurne (a tradition which occurs all over Flanders and has been granted UNESCO protection in 2015). Older bottle. Snow white, medium thick, moussy, regular, lightly lacing and unstable head over a misty, warm peach-tinged 'old gold' coloured beer. Aroma of pear jam, apple sauce, quite a lot of chicken soup- and rust-like oxidation already, pumpkin and leek soup, honey, white pepper, potato starch, pineapple, orange peel, soggy bread, coriander touch. Sweet onset, lots of residual white candi syrup, fruity notes of ripe pear and pineapple, some banana, sourish apple peel in the background, medium carbo, light minerally touches here and there. Bready, soapy middle, powdery due to old yeast, drenched in residual honeyish sweetness which dominates till the end and even sticks a bit in the back of the mouth; earthy, rooty, weedy hop bitterness and more starch-like yeastiness are added in the finish along with quite outspoken retronasal oxidation, but the sweetness remains the main factor. Soapy aspects linger as well. Clearly aimed at the broadest audience possible in its easygoing sweetness, but it hasn't held up all too well I'm afraid: the hop bitterness I read in other reviews here, has long faded, and oxidation is getting the better of it by this time - so clearly not one to age, to say the least. Not very pleasant in this form, but I cannot imagine it scoring a lot higher when young, as I long had my share of overly sweet old-fashioned Belgian blondes and tripels by now.

Pours clear blonde, small white head fades instantly. Smell is mild, rather unfresh maltyness. unintense. Bit dry by the yeast. Taste is really harsh, astrigent, bit bitter, dry, yeast, rotten character, very stale honey. not very enjoyable.

33cl bottle, bought somewhere around Veurne. --> Interessantes Bier...
