A silky smooth stout thanks to the addition of oats to the mash. Made with 6 different malts, this beer is all about mouthfeel. Expect plenty of espresso notes, and chocolate tones. The water from Black Isle's borehole is as soft as water gets, which is perfect for dark beers.

Can. Pours black with moderate sized beige foamy head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, faint blackberry note. The berry fruitiness comes through more in the taste being slightly sharp, as well as the usual moreish roast, coffee, and chocolate, dry dusty finish, moderate bitterness. Nice smooth body. Very good stuff.

Black beer, tan head. Nice malty aroma. Flavour has malt, a little chocolate, smooth from the oats, just a hint of smoke in the finish. Very pleasant indeed.

[33cl can from Beer52.] An opaque black pour with a peaky caramel coloured head; fresh espresso coffee aroma; rich in the mouth with coffee and caramel flavours and a velvety body; then a gentle bitterness with well toasted malt grains.

Oops, another explosive stout in a can ! Masses of froth everywhere. So pours dark cola brown with an enormous frothy beige head, which quickly dissipates. Aroma is mainly roasted malts, but with some berry fruits and hints of pastry. It the mouth it’s a tad watery, with the main flavours being chocolate and dandelion and burdock plus a little dark fruitiness. Finish is sweet, but with an underlying hoppiness. Decent enough, but a little nondescript.

Creamy tan head stayed on a dark brown body. Malt, oat & bitter aroma. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated & cloying on the back. Liquorice, malt, treacle & jam tastes with a nicely hopped finish. Solid.
