Bottle. Four year old bottle. The colour is dark brown to black colour with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate truffles, coffee, nougat, oak, liqueur and caramel. Flavour of coffee, dark chocolate, fudge, licorice, oak and warming alcohol. Has a slick and slightly sparkly mouth feel, medium to full body and a light bitterness. Roasted and a little sweet. Balanced and solid.

The wax is almost an inch thick on this one. Some major knife work needed just to get into the damn bottle. Once I did I was gifted with a black with with a small tan head. Apple brandy showing in a boozy, fumey, but pleasant way, going into milk chocolate, dark fudge, vanilla, brownies and cinnamon. Flavour is heavy sweet with a moderate underlying bitterness. Full hoodies with soft carbonation. Nice!

Beczki moze bym nie zgadl, ale jak wiem to faktucznie obecna troche. Midowo-jasnoowocowe, moze i jablkowe, mniej estrowe niz wiekszosc. Najsik duzy

Poured from a 500 ml, 2019 vintage bottle. Aroma is malt forward with chocolate, caramel, toffee and toasted breads. Moderate cinnamon and vanilla notes with light honey and roast. Light alcohol spice and oak notes. A bit of apple brandy. Pours what dark brown to black with a large, thick, mocha head that recedes slowly to a small, thick, creamy film that lingers. Moderate lacing and medium long legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with tons of malt, adjuncts and barrel character. Lots of toasted breads, grain, chocolate, caramel and toffee. Lighter honey and roast. Moderate bitterness and medium light alcohol spice. Moderate apple brandy notes with light oak. Medium light cinnamon and light vanilla. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice stout. The aroma and flavor reminds me of the apple cinnamon Nutrigrain bars I used to eat 20 years ago. The malt profile seems lighter than other eclipses, but I know the recipe is the same so I'm trippin.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is rich and chocolate forward with some light roast notes. Light oak notes with moderately strong apple brandy notes. Some light alcohol spice. Pours a black color with a medium large, thick, creamy, mocha head that recedes slowly and steadily. Light lacing and medium length legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with lots of chocolate notes and some light roast notes. Faint honey with moderate bitterness. Some grape notes and moderate apple brandy character. Light oak and light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice stout. Lots of barrel character. Alcohol is well hidden behind the sweet malt notes. Solid mouthfeel with some lingering sugar stickiness.

Bottle (blue wax cap, recolte 2017): Literally black, small tanned foamy layer, solid sweet toasty and caramelly nose with leathery spots, dark dried fruits and traces of coffee; solid sweet flavour, low bitterness, very low acidity; full bodied, absolutely soft; lingering sweet honeyish and toasty finish. Even though a bit on the sweet side, a nice pleasure...

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of black cholate notes with sweet barrel-aged notes is enticing. Taste is a mix of sweet black chocolate notes with some apple brandy notes, light woody notes with a sweet finish. Body is about average with good carbonation and faint warming alcohol notes. Enjoyable but not one of my favorite from this series.
