This singular amber ale, brewed with a touch of smoked malt whisky, offers the delicate taste of fine Belgian yeast and caramelized apples.
It celebrates the courage and festive spirit of the log drivers of yesteryear.

Pours initially with towering fluffy head. Dark golden, slightly cloudy, lots of fine, lively carbonation. Aroma of wood smoke and cooked grains, taste is more smoked malt, lightly toasted, light bacon. Some caramel and toffee. Very nicely done.

Darker and more cloudy than a pale ale. Looks like lighter iced tea. Typical uni yeasty smell. Odd leather taste but its better than most of the uni’s I’ve had, yes much more well behaved. Quite easy on the buds and now that I see its a smoked, its probably one of the better smoked beers I’ve tasted my friend. I almost enjoy this stuff. Yes, so well behaved you would never know this is a smokey. I’m glad to have tasted this brew thank you magic tree.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 3/6/2016. Pours lightly hazy deep orange copper color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big peach, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, bread, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of apricot, peach, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, bread, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of peach, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, caramel, toast, bread, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian pale ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle: Pours hazy orange-amber with a gigantic vanilla head. Tangy caramel and wood aroma. Taste is sweet toffee, very slight peat/tobacco..banana/clove. More woody than smoky...but a nice, rich scent and flavour.

Un produit que j’ai toujours aimé mais qui manque aujourd’hui de corps en comparaison aux brassins québécois des dix dernières années. Bel équilibre entre le sucré et une certain goût boisé.

341 ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellow/amber with light head. Aromas of Unibroue yeast and light spice/fruit. Flavors of dusty yeast and malts. No smoke that I could detect. Seems to be a very basic beer for Unibroue.

Bottle - Bready with sweet yeast. Cloudy orange with a rich white head. Not sure I get any of the smoke, it is more like the typical Unibroue ale with a very malty and sweet yeasty finish.
