Licorice, laurel, coreander and malt in the aroma. Malty sweet, sugary flavor with the above mentioned spices and some tropical fruit. Spicy, light bitter aftertaste.

Older bottle originally from the illustrious VACAS, shared by tderoeck, still with the old label (so another one than shown here). Light gusher. Thick, lacing, pale greyish beige head, hazy bronze-hued chocolate brown robe. Aroma of old cocoa dust and a lot of it, caramel candy, brown bread, liquorice, coriander seed, dried figs, cinnamon, some sherryish oxidation, blackcurrant, dried banana. Sweet onset, fig and dried banana notes, chestnutty malt body, medium carbonated; smooth caramelly middle with a 'dusty old cocoa powder' effect to it, oxidized in a surprisingly elegant and tasteful way ('portorisation', let's say). Soft spicy coriander notes in the end mingling with that dusty cocoa effect, lingering caramelliness and warming, port-like alcohol. Must have been a really sweet and 'Belgian spicy' winter-like beer when young but at this age, it has apparently developed maturity and elegance much more than I was expecting. One to 'forget' about in your cellar, apparently...

Slow gusher alert!
Clear brown beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty oxidized, bread crust, some chocolate, dried fruits, caramel. Rather pleasant! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: little sourish, chocolate, some caramel, oxidized, bit sugary. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, chocolate, cocoa powder, sourish touch. Decent one!

Vintage bottle at de kelk, best before 2010. Gusher. Pours dark brown with a red glow. Small white head. Smell is sweet, dusty, leaves. Taste is sweet, bit port, leaves, caramel. Rather complex yet a bit too sweeet for my taste. Good carbo, regular mouthfeel. Ok

Standard and a bit flat Belgian brown beer. Sweet, malty and a bit irony. Not very good.

Lovely dark brown color with a little red shining through. Not a nice smell and poor taste. Mouthfeel is pretty decent.

Bottle ZBF: Poured a dark reddish brown with a thick light brown head. Aroma was sweet fruit and caramel malt. Taste was similar with caramel malt and a nice alcohol warming.
