Bottle, 9.4%. Aroma of dried fruit. Caramelly with sourish notes. Cloudy amber colour. Small stable creamy off-white head. The flavour is quite malty and a little papery. Medium bitterness. The alcohol is not very distinct until perhaps in the aftertaste when a little alcohol bitterness can be tasted.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark amber with stable beige head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt and Belgian yeast, with mild floral touches. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and yeast, with citric and estery notes and touches of hops. Estery and malty aftertaste with pronounced acidic notes. Decent.

Strong Belgian ale from the new Engilsen brewery with thin but lacing, off-white head and hazy, deep brownish copper colour, clearly paler than usual for even a quadrupel, looking more like a barley wine, with tiny yeast bits floating around in it. Aroma of overripe peach, caramel, hazelnuts, some FFF (freshly fermented farmland), dry banana, candi sugar, pear, some vanilla. Pineapple and peach fruitiness in the mouth, spritzy to the point where it becomes perhaps a bit overcarbonated, sweet caramelly and honeyish malt base with a nutty accent, bit bready and yeasty in the end with earthy hops and a suggestion of warming alcohol. Lacks a bit of body to be a truly great quadrupel; this is more a kind of ’darkish’ tripel, but still a decent and rich beer, to sip carefully.
