Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, this ale reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

750 ml bottle from mcbackus! Cloudy dark brown with a huge (2"), glass lacing, beige head. Nose of flowery hops, light oranges, and a hint of toffee, not a really potent aroma. Flavor is lightly bitter and the orange peel very apparent. Mild sweetness and yeast notes are there too along with minor pepperiness. Finish has light bitterness and a tiny hint of the alcohol. Does not have the big aroma and flavors of most BSAs, everything is kind of muted. Kind of a BSA Light, nothing there to excite me!

Big bottle, no. 0919, topped by a wire cradle and a cork shared at the splendid beer-dinner happening with Garrett Oliver at Slotskroen in Hillerød. Beige foamy head over a mahogany body. Aroma of spiced fruits. Comprehensive sweet flavour of orange shells, caramel and chocolate malts added by dark honey. Masked alcohol. Sweet, but a fine partner to the Brewmaster Carbonade Flamande (14.05.2009).

Bottle 75 cl. Slightly hazy amber golden with an off-white head. Intense aroma of overripe fruit and yeast. Medium body, heavy carbonation and lots of overripe fruit being the dominant flavour combined with some brown sugar. Rather alcoholic finish. 160509

Brown with a lasting tan head. Fruity Belgian aroma with a little caramel. Sweetish caramel and fruity flavour. Lacks some complexity for 9% beer. Especially since I had it right after the more exciting Local 1
