Rich, super deep dark brown coloured body with a relatively faint, tan head, only a centimetre tall with a very opaque, around 90% brown/black glow when held up to the light. Aroma of very rich and complex yeast, funk, sour and tart prunes and raisins with a big dose of lactose, ash, cedar, citrus, light alcohol and some grain - quite strong and ridiculously complex, in a very good way. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich roasty, oatie and bitter flavour of the roasted malts, some lighter grain and light herbal elements and a huge dose of the fresh yeast that contributes to the funk and wild character quite a bit with some soda sweetness perceptible at the very end. Overall, a very nice and intesting beer with a great complexity and smooth edges around this beer and more enjoyable considering the style and depth surrounding this with the supporting cast it has. I sampled this 37,5 cL split bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 08-November-2014 for US$9,00 when I only had one kid, sampled at home in Washington on 29-January-2018, a solid 3+ years of aging this beer when I now have three kids. Nice to sample, incredibly complex throughout, with the funky yeast characteristic just being more aggressive. Overall, a decent beer to make us all with some deeper and larger throughout that initial flavours, but not a bad beer and worth puttin out so much sutff on your balance

375 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2014. Moderate gusher upon opening. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, toffee, cherry, raisin, plum, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, toffee, cherry, raisin, plum, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Light roast bitterness/yeast spiciness and slight fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, toffee, cherry, raisin, plum, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and moderate fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is nice; with a minimal amount of tannic acidity. Alcohol is well hidden with a light-moderate warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice barrel aged Belgian style stout. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Dark brown to black, light red, 1 finger head. 375ML thanks Doug for sharing. Aroma of lactobacillus and brett, pineapple and ginger and vanilla and bourbon. thin mouthfeel. Raisin taste, ginger, a little effervescent. some grapes and something else that’s a little sour. Not a lot of body, thin finish. enjoying the dark fruits and wine tannins.

375 ml bottle, aroma is funky oak and light notes of vinegar. Dark brown with lasting
Flavor is much like the aroma, lingering funky oak and light funk lingering brew. Body is thinner with a astringent after taste. Tastes like it was infects in a bad way.

Bottle shared with Darrel, nate2g and GenDV138. Gusher! Clear dark brown color, scant bubbles. Aroma of vanilla, cocoa, light smoky whiskey but not boozy. Taste is vanilla and brownies dipped in whiskey. Tasty.

Capped 375 from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a large creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and detectable bourbon. Not quite full bodied, and it thins rapidly. Flavor is earthy dark chocolate, something suggesting chili, and a little bourbon. Alcohol is present, more so than it seems it should be. The malt should be heavier for this to work well.

Bottle, gusher . Pours black, good grey head that fades very fast . Intense scent of burnt malts , roasted , some oak . very sharp dark grains . Not much bourbon . Taste is intense , dark malts & not so complex bourbon sidenotes . Some oak . Very burned taste, withoud the actual aspects of a Imperial stout or anything Like that . ( I guess thats why it aint an Imperial stout, ha ? ) . Rather thin body , with overcarbonisation . Bitter up front , fading to sweetness ( when the bourbon kicks in ) . Aftertaste is just like bourbon . I like it . It could use less carbo and more body though
