Racer X® is an uncommon Double India Pale Ale which puts a California twist on English brewing traditions by adding an assertive hop aroma and bitterness that compliments the firm malt backbone. Like its little brother Racer 5, Racer X® is balance in a bottle.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy orangey color ale with a medium white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of citrus and earthy hops with some deep caramelized sweet malt backbone. Taste is also dominated by some citrus and earthy hops with a huge caramelized malt backbone with quite a bit of residual sugar. Body is quite full with good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable but just too sweet for my taste buds.

Light amber color. Massive notes of Crystal Malts and pine. The pine is very distinctive. Hidden below is some tropical fruit notes. Superbly balanced, with a touch of caramel notes under the crystal malts and pine. Very drinkable, alcohol well hidden superbly executed.

22oz bottles pours a clear deep orange with some thin white head. Nose is mostly grapefruit, pine, soap, pretty much it. Flavor is big on the grapefruit, orange, pine, soap, candy. Full, bitter finish. Fairly run of the mill DIPA if you ask me.

Very strong grapefruit peel nose, with pine needle accents and minor caramel notes, nice lacing. Clear orange, medium yellow head. Grapefruit peel, honeycomb, and caramel flavor. Finishes surprisingly bready. Medium body, low viscosity. Nicely balanced with great transitions. Wonderful intensity without being boozy.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of herbal, pine, resin and citrus hops. The taste is citrus, resin, piney hops with a subtle pale maltiness. Medium bodied with a mild lingering bitterness. Solid DIPA.

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Off-white pancake head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet dark caramel and resin aromas. Thick with dark caramel and resin upfront turning to sweet toffee in the lasting finish.
