Bean Gene is the first variation we did with our Mean Gene barrel-aged Eugene Porter. After months socked away in bourbon barrels, we steeped it with Dark Matter coffee beans prior to bottling. Smooth and well-balanced, with hints of vanilla and an in-your-face coffee flavor, enjoy it at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

On tap at Hunah Day. Pours a very dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roasted malt, cocoa, wood, bourbon. Thick body, chewy, roast, rich malt, chocolate, light booze finish, very nice.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Opaque pitch black color, small off-white head. Aroma is malts, huge coffee espresso and bourbon, chocolate and dark chocolate. Oh yeah I love this. Taste malts, roast, dark chocolate, bourbon, espresso, coffee, bitter and chocolate sweet-bitter. Wow this beer is packed with everything I love in a beer! Great stuff! Only one thing that could be improved imo: the body is a bit thin. Incredible that they got this much aroma and flavour in an 8.5% ABV beer but I need this to be more creamy and thick. Still, this is lovely. Delightful.

Bottle @ benzai. Black colour with a small light brown head. Smells bourbon, cognac, almond, alcohol, nuts, very sweet, chocolate, roasty, coffee. Tastes almond, bourbon, watery, vanilla, chocolate, roasty, coffee. Thin to medium body, soft carbo. Smells like a big, mean bold beer but kinda disappoints when it comes to taste and body. Doesn’t make it a bad beer though.

Bottle share gathering at Bruce’s. Hazy dark red - brown beer, decent tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth and mild dark malts with touches of dark chocolate and coffee. Fruity bourbon, very fruity. Woody dryness and a trace of vanilla. Finishes light and semi dry. Great flavours but they could do with a more luxuriant palate to showcase them.

Bottle thanks to Bruce. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is sweet, juicy, big vanilla, toasty coconut, bourbon, cocoa, coffee and roast. The taste is bitter, rich roast, earth, drying, good bit of coffee, cocoa, drying, charred wood, warming alcohol and vanilla with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate+ carbonation. I really dig the aroma. A bit boozy even. Decent.
