2010 bottle from Healthy Spirits, SF. It pours clear orange-amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is vinous, gingerbread, toffee, caramel, tart red fruit and banana bread. The taste is banana bread, ginger, caramel, toffee, spice, sherry, dark red fruit, vinous, wood, tinned fruit and alcohol warmth, with some bitterness in the finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Great balance. One of the best in this series.

I was really looking forward to this one as I am also a fan of sherry but the flavors really did not mesh well for me. Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. +++ 2007 edition. Sampled from a 9.3 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky dark brown color with a trace soapy white head that left no lacing. The aroma was sweet toffee and caramel with notes of tart sherry, cherry and wochestershire sauce. The flavor was strong nut, toffee and butterscotch with tart sherry and an earthy undertone with notes of tobacco and smoke. Long finish. Flat but otherwise medium body. Disappointing.

Bottle @ Bull & Bush Christmas beer tasting. Brown appearance with little head. Super rich, somewhat boozy, vinous, dark caramel aroma. Super rich caramel, syrupy, red fruity, vinous, thick brown sugar flavor.

2009 vintage 275ml $10 bottle. Pours with a hazed copper body with a slight off-white head that fades quite quickly. No lace nor legs left on the side of the glass. Aromas are surprisingly subdued. Caramel, malty, alcohol, dark fruits, a bit of sherry. No oak to really speak of. A bit of cereal and some esters. Marmalade. A bit earthy. Flavors are sweet, very very sweet. Amber karo syrup. A bit earthy, syrup. Headache inducing alcohol and sugar. Fruity some esters and alcohol. A bit of marmalade. Some bready malt once you get past the caramel sweetness. A bit of sherry and papery character. Syrupy heft on the mouth. Thick, light bubbles, warming.

Sampled from bottle at PIB, pours cloudy dark orangey amber with hardly any head. Aroma of sherry, light bourbon, sweet dark / dried fruits - quite a bit of liqueur sweetness. Flavour is exceedingly sweet, but not cloyingly - it tastes natural, as from the liqueurs as opposed to adding sugar. Deep rich flavours, finishing sweet and with sort of a burnt wood quality. Most excellent.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours a near clear amber with some visible particles and no head whatsoever. Aroma has an interesting combination of light fruit, sweet grains, sherry, caramel and a good amount of backing smoke and peat. Flavor is similar with sherry, light fruits and sweet grains with growing caramel, smoke and peat coming out in the finish.

18th January 2009 2007 Bottle. Hazy amber brown beer. A few white suds. Low carbonation. Not as sweet as the other Harvests. Has a soft feel. A little burnt toffee and just a sublte sherry tone. Nice beer but lacks the wow factor of the Port and the Calvados. Maybe should have been barrelled for longer? 3.5

Nearly 12 years on ... time for a revisit. This is a 2017 bottle and provides pretty much everything that I thought was missing back in 2009. Smooth creamy toffee caramel with well integrated sherry that imparts smooth rich ripe fruits, pruney and datey. Trace of citric peel, really quite soft. Finishes smooth with everything coming together very well indeed.
