Bottle@1420, Copenhagen - (1420 vintage tastings) Black pour with a tan head. Roasted and sweet dark malty with some rich chocolate and some toffee and caramel swetness, medium to full bodied, dark malt finish. Gorgeous.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle that I received at the party in 2011. Aroma is like a typical eclipse but with a bit less barrel character and more of a malt presence. Chocolate and roast with some tobacco and leather. Light raisin, fig and prune notes with hints of honey. Hints of bourbon and oak. A light oxidation note in the form of sherry. Pours black with dark brown hues on the edges and a small, somewhat forced, dark tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where a clump lingers for a bit. Light lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with moderate chocolate notes and a bit lighter roast character. Some tobacco and leather notes with a light ashy character. Light honey notes. Light bourbon and oak notes. Light to medium light alcohol spice. Some sherry notes with raisin, fig and prune as well. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and a bit silky with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol notes. Overall, a nice beer. It doesn’t seem that much higher in ABV than a typical eclipse, but it is thicker with a more pronounced malt profile.

Taste: sweet start, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, alcohol, dark chocolate, bit sourish. Aftertaste: alcohol, caramel, vanilla, pretty sweet, milk chocolate, alcohol, bitter hoppy touch, slightly sourish. Darn good beer!

Thanks to Beer Savant for sharing 2011 vintage bottle during his 50th birthday bash. This beer pours an opaque brownish-black color with a thin beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing and sticky legs. Aroma of chocolate, roast malt and bourbon. Full, smooth body with flavors of bourbon-infused chocolate, vanilla and roast malt. The finish is syrupy with a bourbon and chocolate aftertaste. Good all around.

Woodshed 2.0. Bomber (bottle #38) share courtesy of BOLTZ7555. It pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin mocha head of foam. The aroma is full of molasses as well as lesser amounts of burnt malts, chocolate and then booze. Nice. The taste is smooth and silky and nectar like as it runs head long into molasses, rich sweetened coffee, chocolate and sticky sludgy malts. Damn, great sipper.

Bottle #61 thanks to billshmeinke. Pours with a tan head that lasts decently well over a black hued body that is glass coating. Aromas are huge: brandy soaked dark fruits, tannin, pine, burnt brown sugar, maple, wood, vanillin, light smoke and molasses. Flavors of pine, tannin and bitterness. Intense flavors, smoke and dark chocolate. Tastes "rare" more than anything. Mocha and bitterness. Medium carbonation, very tannic with a fuller body. Tannins dry the mouth out quite a bit. Interesting and good overall, but no where near the best of the Eclipse Series.
