Draught. Hazy ambery brown colour with a minor head. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, some figs, plum and dried fruits. Flavour is zesty, plum, dried fruits, some nutty and mild toffee tones with a wee bit of spices and alcohol too. Sweet aftertaste, but not that much bitterness.

25 June 2019. At Dok Brewing Company, Ghent. Shared with Anke. Pours hazy brown with a lasting, very thin, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of candied dates, dried plum, dried banana slice, butterscotch, brioche, orange peel, Grand Marnier, milk chocolate. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, lots of ripe & candied fruits (raisin, dates, banana), brioche- & soft caramel-like maltiness, a tad chocolatey, with bitter accents of wood, mocha. Somewhat sourish before ending dryish with herbal hops, caramel & dried fruits, warming glow of triple sec-like alcohol. Full body, oily-sticky texture, soft carbonation. Strong stuff, perhaps a bit too sweet.

Clear copper to red brown beer, creamy dense beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: oh yes, that's how a good barley wine is supposed to smell! Lots of alcohol, bit sugary, some ripe banana, dried fruits, lots of caramel, vanilla. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of sweet caramel malts, alcohol, some milk chocolate, more alcohol, some ripe banana, bit of an alcohol burn, sugary, slightly sourish, malty, some grains. Aftertaste: still alcohol, slightly oxidized touch, sugary, ripe banana, maybe a bit too much of that banana.
