Malty, dense, boozy stuff. Some hoppy bitter, but mostly caramel and dried fruit. The barrels work pretty well with the beer, somewhat woody, bit of white grape. Pretty tasty stuff, aged quite well I reckon (based on other comments).

Même si ces Barrel Project sont rarement tonitruantes, les essais de la brasserie Kees sont plutôt intéressants. Sur ce 19.02, c'est un Barley Wine très marqué par me Sorachi Ace ce qui lui donne un caractère très typé avec un vieillissement en fut de vin blanc permettant de casser quelque peu la douceur du Barley Wine. Globalement, les arômes s'allient bien de plus. Quelques limites tout de même avec un Barley Wine, simple sur des arômes de clémentine et orange un peu sûre (Sorachi Ace), de miel et de légères épices (provenant du Fuggles, le deuxième houblon utilisé), un alcool à 11,2% que je trouve inconstant et un final moyen. Sur le visuel, nous ne sommes pas au top avec un ambré orangé trouble (EBC de 35) quasiment sans mousse. Le nez est sur la clémentine, l'orange sûre, le miel, la vanille est le vin blanc. Les arômes de fût de vin blanc restent modérés mais bien intégrés. On retrouve ces arômes avec de légères épices. Bonne densité du Barley Wine avec une petite acidité permettant de casser la douceur. En deuxième bouche l'amertume à 55 d'EBU monte d'un cran, bien dosée, et l'alcool en sous-jacent donne un peu de tonus. L’arrière-bouche est par contre un peu dure sur l'alcool. On regrette cependant le peu d'évolutions aromatiques et c'est un final mezzo piano dans la stricte lignée de la seconde bouche qui nous attend. Pas de quoi s'enflammer mais intéressant.

Hazy brown colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of sweet dried fruits. Floral and cakey. Warming.

33cl can. A clear almost clear amber beer with a small white lacing. Aroma of strong red fruits, caramel, booze. Taste of boozy caramelized malt, grains alcohol.

330 ml can. Pours a hazy mahogany with light head. Aromas of oranges and caramel malts plus a bit of booze. Flavors of sweet toffee, candied oranges, light chocolate, and sweet toasted malts. Quite warm. Nice.

Dark amber colour, small off-white head. Strong grape/white aroma, fermented fruits. Medium-bodied. Flavour has also very strong grape-white wine -character. Dryish finish. Quite simple but some way interesting although someone could say this tastes like those homebrews you made from fruits ...
