Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is heavy sweet amaretto with caramel, malt, almonds, liquer, nuts, marzipan, some milky coffee. Rather sweet flavour with light bitterness. Medium body. Now I happen to (kinda) like Amaretto, but this is a wildly inappropriate beer to carry the name Bathory.

33cl can at home. Poured near black in color, thin off white head. Lots of cold coffee with good amount of sugar in it. Light amaretto notes, marzipan. Way too sweet though. Barley wine as a style almost void here.

Auburn with a thin, creamy head. Aroma of coffee grounds, caramel, and faint, indistinct berry notes. Taste is mildly sweet with a faint, coffee bitterness underneath. The amaretto turns up at the finish, which is long, dry and very mildly warming. Thinner than I‘d expect for a beer of this style, and not as complex as it could be, but still quite decent.

Pours clear, dark copperamber. Small, nearly no head. Scent has coffee, roastyness, medium intense on the almond (amaretto comes to mind) . Not very barleywine typical. Taste is very thick, sweet-ish, some BW character, but coffee really does sit on top. Almonds are fairly mild. Sticky, sweet, but not very balanced. Simple sweetness. Not great.

Can. Light haze on this deep reddish amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. The malts feel slightly thin but bring a decent creamy malt sweetness with a touch of caramel. Bloody sweet, ? Not so much! Smooth light earthy coffee. Very mild amaretto. Smooth dry finish delivers some alcohol warmth and spice. Yeah, it's a conceptual barleywine rather than one that might stand on its own straight style. Finishes airy and fairly dry. An okay barleywine that never really connects with its own concept. Not tht bloody sweet at all and lacking any real malt depth. Drinkable though.

33 cl. can @ home, bought @ Kulenborgse Bierhandel.
Very dark red brown with a tan head. Espresso and almond aroma with roasted malts and dark caramel. Sweet taste with a sticky coffee bitter boozy finish. Not well balanced because I think it's too sweet, even for a barley wine and the coffee is too much.
