Stay Frosty IPA is the perfect beer for the tail end of Summer and the return of crisp, cool, fall air to the PNW. It’s clean and refreshing like a lager, but with the higher ABV and bold hoppiness of a classic West Coast IPA.
Instead of using traditional ale yeast, in this hybrid IPA we use lager yeast and ferment at cooler temperatures than normal IPAs to deliver a clean body that allows the hops to shine without any of the usual ale yeast aromas. The addition of flaked rice to the grain bill imparts additional clarity and crispness. Gobs of hops build an assertive bitterness, and we also dry hop at the tail end of fermentation to deliver even more hop boldness.

Can from Fred Meyer, Everett, WA
Blond colour, pale, slightly hazy. Dry, lean, crispy, with some mineral and earthy traits, may be a combination of fermentation and hopping; bold bitterness.
Very good.

Citrus mostly. Golden pour with decent head. Bitter finish. Some peel. A little grapefruit. Hops aroma isn't as big as Reuben's better beers.

On tap at Reuben's, pours a clear pale copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle piney hops and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is quite piney, with piney hops, light melon, and crisp biscuity malt. Piney and crisp, with a bitter finish. Good stuff.

IPL - even though the brewery itself refrains from using that term, but when lager yeast is involved at cool fermenting temperatures, I do not see any reason not to call it that... Brewed and canned in Seattle, bought from Hopt, the follow-up to Saveur Bière in northern France. Very large-bubbled, cobweb-lacing, snow white, very loosely structured but nevertheless retaining head on a clear, pale yellow-straw blonde beer with a column of disparate sparkling in the middle. Aroma of yellow grapefruit peel, fresh lemon zest, withering lemongrass, some sweaty dankness, frehsly cut wormwood leaves, overripe shallot, moist white bread, Graham crackers, freshly mown lawn, wallpaper glue, vague whiffs of honey, rainwater and old dry straw. Clean, indeed lager-like onset, some green apple peel and unripe pear perhaps, but very low in sweetness, with a moderate amount of minerally effervescence; lean body, cereally and white-bready maltiness, deliberately kept simple and slender to let the hoppiness speak, becoming dank, a tad piney and grapefruity, with retronasal effects of overripe onion, lemongrass and dried grapefruit zest, estabishing a long but still somewhat 'gentle', wormwoody, leafy bitterness that fills the finish. Clean, highly drinkable, straightforward, old school IPL: I have nothing against this, but the 'West Coast' association is taking it just a bit too far for me - this lacks expression and colour for that kind of assumptions, though I am admittedly biased when it comes to old school West Coast IPAs (or IPLs as in this case)...

Can, 0.355l. Aroma of ripe tropical fruit, citrus, pine and flowers. Pours cloudy pale golden color with thin soapy white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts with refreshing passion fruit, citrus and herbs, following is grainy and slightly medicinal, mouthfeel is crisp and rather dry, while finish is pretty bitter. Medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Frosty sips without tips…

Can. Slow gusher. Pale yellow colour with light haze. It's a smooth and subtle IPA. Light notes of lime zest give a nice fruity bitterness.

12 oz from a six pack from Fred Meyer. About three weeks old. Aroma has notes of peach, apricot, cantaloupe, pineapple, orange, pine. Pours mostly clear pale golden with a one+ finger off-white head with great retention. Taste has a moderate pithy bitterness, finishing dry.

355 ml can poured in to a Tulip. Slightly hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, pines, a grassy bitterness and biscuits. Taste is bitter. Medium bodied. Dry and bitter finish with citrus fruit. Ok old school IPA.

Can picked up from Etre Gourmet webshop Grez-Doiceau Belgium (I think?) and consumed at our log cabin for the week in Reindlau, Austria, Tuesday 28th December 2021 no mobile data tonight so listening to Hit Radio Ö3, it's a bit iffy but hey this is how it is, ooh the 4G mobile data has returned. We had a couple of Cross Country Skiing Lessons today 'Classic'. Hazy yellowy colour with a white head, some grapefruit, middling bitterness, it's not bad but overall still feel that this brewery are not quite there yet.
