A lagered porter is a pretty interesting concept. Taking darker roast heritage barley Chevalier, and bottom fermenting it to give it some fizz. A rich, bubbling dark beer hopped with Mosaic.

Panda at home, thanks to Dave, 14/10/22. Black with a tan covering that soon vanishes. Nose is dark malts, dried fruit rinds, earthy, modest dusty hop presence, baking powder, light roasted notes. Taste comprises dark malts, light spice, charr, fruit cake mix, hint of cocoa powder, light roast, ashen tones, burnt toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. It's fine ... just seems a little stuck between 3rd and 4th gear.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Clapton Craft Depot. Pours black-brown with a frothy, beige topping. Lightly sweet, soft roast, quite a bit of tangy dark fruits (almost sour), a little earth, a little salt. Light to medium bodied with active, massaging carbonation. More tangy dark malts in the finish, a hint of ash, dark berries. Hard to tell if that tanginess is intentional or if the beer is a little off. As it is, it's drinkable.

440ml can from Fyne Ales tap room - Deep russet body with a firm off white head. Nose is malty with the expected roasted tones, coffee, nuts, bit of liquorice. Solid bold tastes come through, again with the coffee etc. Overall quite fresh and tasty.

Can ordered from Ghost Whale, Putney. Aroma has citrus edged light coffee and charcoal. Dark opaque brown. Thin foamy translucent beige head. Yes, it's hoppy. Citrus and herbs. Berry sweet and sour edge, which becomes more prominent. Underlying coffee more evident into the finish. Medium bodied. Slick to creamy. Average carbonation. Long slightly dry finish. Too easily drinkable.
