Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 04/06/24. Pitch black with a tan cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is toffee fudge, hint of coconut, vanilla essence, chocolate, dark malts. Taste comprises chocolate, spice, charr, hint of liquorice all sorts, coffee grinds, mellow roast. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Tidy well balanced impy stout.

26/5/2024. Bottle from Vínbúðin Kringlunni, courtesy of Painy, cheers! Pours black with a with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, toffee, roasted malt, coffee, bourbon, vanilla. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Enjoyed this.

Bottle 93. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, barrel, little vanilla and a little dark fruit. Flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, barrel, sweet, little dark fruit and a little bitter.

ABV: 11.0%. Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, chocolate, dark malt, sweet malt, cocoa. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming. [20220512]

Bottle: Poured a pitch black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with some chocolate notes and some vanilla and bourbon notes. Taste is also a mix of light roasted malt offset by sweet black chocolate notes with some bourbon and vanilla notes and finat woody notes. Body is full with great texture and good carbonation. Solid barrel-aged stout with a great mix of complexity and drinkability.

From private import. Thanks to Phil. Aromas of melting fudge, praline chocolate, brownies with an important place of caramelized notes reminiscent of crème brulée, all coated with a Bourbon harmonizing perfectly with the palette. Black and opaque liquid covered with a moderately dense mocha head that also persists moderately. In mouth, praline chocolate harmonizes with an enveloping and dominant heat of alcohol. The coffee stands out a little more in mouth and the bitterness of roasting is imposed beyond the sweet malted elements. The subtle hops are earthy and spicy. The body remains imposing but the high concentration of alcohol makes us perceive it more than it actually is. The superb aromas of olfactory are lost in a slightly too powerful concentration of alcohol, which greatly detracts from the taste complexity of this beer. Nevertheless, it remains perfectly tasty. Aromes de fudge fondant, de chocolat praline, de brownies avec une place importante aux notes caramélisées rappelant la crème brulée, le tout enrobé d’un Bourbon s’harmonisant parfaitement à la palette. Liquide noir et opaque se couvrant d’une mousse moka moyennement dense qui persiste également moyennement. En bouche, le chocolat praline s’harmonise avec une chaleur d’alcool enveloppante et dominante. Le café ressort un peu plus en bouche et l’amertume de torréfaction s’impose au-delà des éléments maltés sucrés. Les subtils houblons sont terreux et épicés. Le corps demeure imposant mais la forte concentration d’alcool nous le fait percevoir plus qu’il n’est en réalité. Les superbes arômes de l’olfactif se perdent dans une concentration un peu trop puissante de l’alcool, ce qui nuit grandement à la complexité gustative de cette bière.
