Bottle at Craig’s. Pours deep amber, nose is peaty, medicinal, caramel, taste is dry, smoky, charcoal, light sweet toffee.

Bottle at Craig’s house. Appearance - dark brown with a thin head. Nose - massive seaweed and elastoplast. Taste - yep loads of medical cupboard smells. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy middle section and a long dry finish. Overall - far too Islay. No idea of underlying beer.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours brown with no head. Aromas of peat, tcp, booze, whisky. Taste is peat, cardboard, Elastoplast, sacking. Finishes thin.

375 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head. Aromas and flavors are loaded with smokey peat. Original Quad flavors creep in after the initial blast. Interesting.

Tenacious medium dark cream head over deep brown beer with a faint red sheen. Phenolic, tar, smoked, tarred poles. Charred, smoked, peated, the tarred poles and Islay². Precious little body for such a beer. Feels well-carbonated and slick, but not rich, despite huge alcoholwarming. Not neutral as the cognac barreled version, but here a bit ... light for what it could have been. Not characterful enough to my liking.

Dark brown color with a minimal off-white head that quickly diminishes. Aroma and flavor is strong peated whisky that hid the rest of characteristic including being unbearable.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan - cream head. Nose has a fair bit of TCP. Palate is smooth and airy, semi dry. Fine carbonation. Taste follows the nose, lots of peaty TCP with an odd minty cooling tone. Little malt cream sweetness and dried fruits. Finishes light and dry with more TCP. Way too much TCP for me.

375 ml. bottle @ home. Thanks to tderoeck for picking this up for me! Bottle nr. 1253. Pours a dark wood red with a collapsing big bubbled head. Nose is full of iodine, sea salt, peat, some smoke in the back, burning plastic and light sweet apple syrup. Taste is full of burning plastic, iodine, sea salt, peated smoke, the base beer is only vaguely there with some faint overripe fruits, apple & sugar sweetness, there are also red berries & black liquorish here. The whole feels a bit thin. I think that there are only 2 ways to make peated whiskey BA beers work in my opinion either 1) have lots of sweetness balance the severe peat character or 2) keep the barrel only vaguely complimentary. Few breweries pull these barrels off in my opinion. This isn’t bad but the base feels thinned out & there is way too much burning plastic here plus peat etc. Yes, I am a big fan of peated whiskeys but those aren’t the same as a beer with an extreme peated whiskey BA character.

37.5cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Tderoeck. BB 26/03/2017. Bottle #2109. Is it BA or not? where is the wood? Couleur cuivrée foncée, col épais crémeux blanc cassé. Arôme est simplement centré sur le tourbé avec un léger résiduel doux sucré. Palais est ici aussi fortement centré sur le tourbé. Soit on aime ou pas, question d’habitude. Note malt caramel assez doux, résiduel sucre brun avec pas franchement de note boisée. Rappelle bcp le ’liquid smoke’. Pas mauvaise, mais très monodimensionnelle tellement le ’peat’ domine.
