From BA: Sept 2007. I bought two brown flip-top bottles (half-litres) on my visit in June 2007. I knew they would have a short life because of the set-up of the brewery, but I forgot to check and log the ’best before dates’ on my return to the UK. The bottles I am reviewing should have been drunk before 25th July 2007, I drank them today, 10th Sept 2007. Poured into my Berliner Kindl half-litre sleeve glass. I had this draught at the brewery, so knew it was going to be very cloudly. The colour is a dull orange with a good firm white head, not pure white, but whiter than biege. The aroma is of yeast and light malts, hops too. Not a lot of power in any of the smells though. The sharpness I remembered from the fresh draught beer had gone, but the sour refreshing taste was still evident, dry and bitter. This is a fine tasting beer. The sourness stays in the mouth, as does the dry bitter taste. What a pity I am not drinking this on a warm summers day on the banks of the river Mosel, but in damp old England. Obviously the freshness isn’t in the beer anymore, but it was still very drinkable and I will re-review this beer if I get the chance to do so with an indate bottle, or draught at the brewhouse.

Bottle. Hazy yellow color, fluffy white head, great lacing. Aroma of pure yeast and raw Bread dough. Taste is black pepper and hay. Nice.

Frisch getreidiger und gleichzeitig säuerlicher Antrunk. Vollmundig cremig getreidig mit wenig Hopfen, süffig, gut karbonisiert. Zum Ende herber, mild, das Ganze wirkt ziemlich jung. Nett. 8/8/9/8/9/8

Bottle. Light diacetyl aroma, fruity yeast. Cloudy yellow, champagne bubbles, offwhite foam. Light fruity soap, a lot of butterscotch, good hop profile. Chewy mellow mouthfeel, sparkly on the tongue. Shame about the fault, I sense a good beer underneath, must try again.

Draught at the brewpub
Deep blond color; creamy head. It has a nice malt aroma, some cereals. Smooth mouthfeel, with some cereals and malt aroma, light residual sweetness; this one as well lacking of hop and bitterness, otherwise it would be a good Helles.

500ml flip-top bottle brought home from Trier. Bottom fermented beer that pours a cloudy, orange body under a dense, white foamy head, reduced to a filmy layer after a short while. Moderate blend aroma of hops and malts. Pale malty taste followed by grain-like sweetness with fruity hops beneath. Dry ending. Fairly well made German Helles (Tromsø, 18.10.2007).

Draught: Poured a orange golden amber with a thin bubbly head. The aroma was a harvesty malt. Sour citrus acidic flavor.

Bottle, 5.2% as Hell Naturtrüb. Cloudy golden colour. The flavour is a bit roasted, confusing. Gets acidic. But not bad.

A hazy orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of caramel - and so is the flavor.
