This iteration of Zenne y Frontera is a Josefa Pérez Oloroso Blend.
In January 2020, we went to the sherry region in the south of Spain to source our own sherry barrels for future Zenne y Frontera projects. And that is how we found the bodega of Josefa Pérez Rosado. In a small barrel room, just behind the Iglesia de Santiago, right in the heart of the village of Jerez de la Frontera, we had the honour to meet and talk with the family Pérez. Only one fifth of the barrels was left, as the bodega had ceased operations. From those remaining barrels, we tasted and selected the best ones for our barrel room.
For this Zenne y Frontera, we blended lambikken from five Oloroso barrels and bottled them straight. The average age of this blend was 26 months upon bottling.
EN Zenne y Frontera is a blend of traditional lambics that matured on old authentic sherry casks.

Magnum. 3F. Rich’s 50th do. Misted medium gold. Nicely dense slim lasting white head. Nose has dusty fusty oak. Sherry cork. Light oxidation. Taste is dry with light puckering tartness. Touch of boost off the 7.3. Smooth overall. Fusty grape-y dusty finish.

750ml (thx, Phill!) @ Matt's house. Appearance: deep hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: nice and elegant funk, some sherry notes with a nice sweetness. Taste: minerals, low carbonation, some 3F brett bitterness, quite bold. Overall: good one.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is strong on the sherry barrels, some musty leather, earthiness, and a touch of juicy stone fruits. Flavour has a pretty remarkable sherry barrel character -- that's pretty impressive for not being back-blended. There's light tartness, some musty funk, and a touch of fruitiness. Impressive sherry character. Really great.

Magnum shared at 3 Fonteinen, for Rich's 50th Bruxelles adventure. A mostly clear deep orange coloured pour with a lasting white loose frothy white. Aroma is semi sweet, musty funk, quince, musty wine, funky grape. Leafy. Flavour is composed of semi sweet rounded, sherry, funky white raisin, mineral drying.. Palate is drying, pithy, light mineral, spritzy fine carbonation. Nice sherry finish.

Magnum split at the Lambik O Droom, 10/02/24. Orange amber with haze on later pours topped with a an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose delivers an instant sherry bang, damp wood, funk, barnyard twang, vinous, stewed fruits, herb. Taste comprises more sherry, sharp citric, funk, hedgerow, balanced acidity, straw, damp cloth, tannins, mellow sherry bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Solid work ... Great oloroso presence from the off and improves over its short lifetime.
