Brewed similar to classic pale ale, the ZWICKL MAX emerges from the storage cellar barrelled and bottled in its natural unfiltered state. The malt, yeast and hop sediments contained in the unfiltered ZWICKL MAX account for the distinctively palatable and rounded taste. Fitted with a pull-off-cap preferred by young customers, ZWICKL MAX is absolute “Bavarian Beer Bliss” for in-between times and occasions.

330 ml bottle. Cloudy orange yellow, very small head. Smell like lemonade. Grain, yeast, citrus, metal, bread. Slighty bitter and fruity sourness. Fizzy carbonated. Medium body. Average Zwickel.

Pours gold from the bottle with a light haze. The head fizzes and dissappears amid much evident carbonation. Smell is rotted, moldy mushroom, light skunk, and sour too. Frankly, we’re not off to a good start here. The taste though is mellow and sweet with a lightly peppery aspect. Finish leaves me feeling like I’ve downed a swig of hard, well carbonated, mineral water. Drinking it, I got a headache. Hmm, it is cheap, and it’s a geat burping beer. I could see this leading to some wicked hangovers. No more, please.

Hazy golden with medium white head. Aroma is soap water, wheat, some sour dust. Taste is a surpsrisingly smooth design of a fresh and lemon-y sourness paired with some rather earthy and slightly malty bitterness that extends into the finish. Medium carbonation with smooth light mouthfeel. Texture reminds of flour. Enjoyable if you put a clothes-peg over your nose first.

330ml bottle. Milky, yellow-ish golden colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, white head. Malty aroma with a spicy touch of hay, some protein, hints of green apple, a lemon dash. Taste is biscuity malty, dry and minimally fruity hoppy overtones with hints green apples and their parings. Decent.

Bottled (from Bier Zwerg). Yellowish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is herbal, fruity, some bready malts and also rather sweetish malty notes. Flavour is bready, sweet malts, some slight grass, hay and mild floral notes. Easy to drink, and not all too special, but still gives a nice long bitterness in the finish. A bit mouthdrying as for the palate.

Bottle looks interesting, different than all the other beers from the brewery. Beer in the glass zippy, nice small head. Starts mild, malty, modest dry. Moldy background, light sourish. Finish more balanced with fruity hints of apricot. Quite drinkable. Not bad!
