Cask on Bobs birthday Derby pub crawl, Saturday 9th June 2018, had this at The Silk Mill. Pours clear amber with a white head, good clarity. A simple and straightforward bitter, caramel simple earthy hops, it's in good nick but it's very ordinary. Fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Amber, hazy at first but quickly clearing, with a filmy white head. Nutty aroma, touch of sulphur, with toast and earthy character. Bittersweet taste, herbal floral notes in the finish. Caramel and suggestions of watercress in the aftertaste. Thin body. A bit disappointing.

Bottle that Dad shared, bought from the Town Street Tap in Duffield. This bottle-conditioned version is 4.9% as opposed to the cask version’s 4.4%. It’s a murky auburn in colour with a white head. It tastes and smells of bread, malt and fruit, with a little earth. There’s not much bitterness but the body is reasonably full and satisfying. It’s your average malty fruity British bitter. It does the job adequately without really exciting me in any way at all.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Golden in colour with a head. Has a gritty hop-malt aroma and taste.
