A red copper barley wine with no head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with vinous notes, alcohol warmth, treacle, light butterscotch, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light woody notes, licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. On tap at l'autre oeil. Not sure which version this is... Pedro Ximenez and Glen Grant barrel aged. 12.6.

Bottle (07/012/2021) pour from The Beer Store, Salem. Lightly hazy amber-rose with nice sparkle, no head and no lacing. Aroma is strong caramel, whisky, dark fruit, honey, grape/red wine, hint of chocolate. Taste follows aroma with late oak. Smooth, thick texture, medium body, soft carbonation and sweet finish as taste. Good strength and complexity.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber / mahogany with a small, quickly-dissipating beige head. Aroma is elegant and complex, with a wonderful blend of sherry barrels and whiskey barrels, followed by dark dried fruits and some vinous notes. Flavour is tart, with lots of tart red fruits, sherry, light tannins, and a touch of vinegar. No notice of the whiskey. This definitely smells more invigorating on the taste. One reason is the flat carbonation, which doesn't seem optimal, as the flavour profile just seems to fall flat on the finish.

Pours a flat looking hazy brown from a bottle. Lots of caramel, some vanilla/oak in the nose. In the mouth I'm getting faint chocolate as well. Good beer.

Taste has also dried fruitness of raisin, richness of maltyness, light nad dry wood, warming in the throat. Full bodied. Very intensive, but quite straightforward.

Hazy deep reddish amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly viscous, good fine carbonation. The malts are smooth if very slightly thin and provide good creamy caramel that blends wonderfully with ripe fruity Speyside. Some alcohol spice in the mid but no heat. The sherry really sweetens the back end up and takes over seamlessly from the Speyside. Smooth finish. Very nice indeed. God it's good to be enjoying Struise beers again. Too many years of overpriced 750s and disappointing offerings. No more! Marvellous!

Bottle split at L6 'zo fucken hote' tasing, thanks to Fergus, 13/07/22. Very lightly hazed amber with an off white cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is tarte fruit esters, vinous, oak, wood must, light funky edge, mellow barrel. Taste comprises sweaty fruits, sherry oak, mellow lick of booze, fruit cake, vinous, caramel. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a spike of alcohol and noted sherry presence. Solid.
