For our 6th birthday we decided to brew a pair of beers which see two of our favourite styles to head to head in a duel of iron fight to the death! In the blue corner is a West Coast Double IPA. We used Simcoe hops in the kettle then dry hopped with Simcoe Cryo, Columbus, Mosaic and a smidge of Citra. Expect a bright and bitter beer that's full of piney and citrus aromatics.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Cotteridge Wines. Pours mostly clear orange-gold with a creamy, off-white head. Nice rich piney character, ample sun-kisses malts, mango, tangerine. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Resinous finish, balanced bitterness, bready pale malts, semi-ripe and juicy citrus fruits. Outstanding.

Can ordered from the brewery. Aroma of methane... oh. Let's start again: aroma has delicate resin and a wodiness. Opaque amber gold. Thin foamy white head. Resinous bitterness bur with a sugary fruit syrup edge. Spice. That marmalade, mama. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry ever so slightly astringent finish. Hits the spot. A somehow delicate DIPA.

Can in the garden, 2022 heatwave, 17th June 22. Pours orange, slight haze. Aroma is candied orange, citrus pith, spruce resin. Taste is citrus peel and pith, grapefruit, good dose of pine resin and bitterness. Finish is pithy and bitter, with a long linger. Great, beats the BIPA for me

Can. Beer Central Sheffield. Hazed gold. Thin and well sticky white foam. Nose has rich spicy malt. Candied peel. Pressed ripe orange. Nicely sappy and piny. Taste has some fair amount of malty sweetness, turning sappy and zesty bitter. Super smooth and quite scarily easy drinking. Soft carbonation. Ripe citrus bitterness to finish.
