22 November 2025. GBV Tasting: Struise en kaas feat. Tim DR (Jan Yoens). Cheers to the whole crew!

Hazy dark brown, thin, tan head. Aroma of candied fig, date jam, raisin, pear, wet wood, vanilla, brandy. Taste has sweet date, fig & raisin in a toffee-, jam- & 'kramiek'-like malt body, tad sourish too. Herbal hops in the finish, a softly bitter toastiness, more dried fruits, vanilla and warming bourbon alcohol. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Enjoyable aged character.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown, with a small, foamy, beige head. The aroma is coffee, cola, earthy peat, light black cherry, leather, and licorice. Dry and musty, with a fair, earthy bitterness. Medium body, slick, and grainy. Interesting, but not great.

15/2/2025. Bottle at the ITFC vintage and rare Saturday share part 2. Courtesy of Travlr. Pours clear very dark brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is toffee, biscuit, woody, bourbon, dried fruits, lightly smoked, boozy, ashy, rich apple, plums. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Quite full bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Very slight woody sour edge to finish. Developed very well.

Black with thin creamy head and no carbonation. Aroma and flavour are strong with aniseed. Very woody, even has a mild sharpness. Warming and boozy.

Bottle. I think from Beer Central. Been in the fridge years. Dark brown pour sits still in the glass. Super leggy of white, loose foam. Nose has sticky Calvados. Whiff of smoke. Rich vine fruit. Taste is sweet and vinous overall. Some earthy dryness. Drinks easy with the ABV nowhere to be seen. Fine carbonation. Dry finish with a little bourbon character coming through on the close.
