A Triple Dry Hopped Imperial IPA 26 years in the making
25 years ago we celebrated the 1st Anniversary of our fledgling brewery with a beer that was far away from the craft beer norms at the time. It was far too intense. It was far too hoppy and bitter. Yet it became the shot heard ‘round the world, and beer history was changed forever. We’re talking of course about our flagship Stone IPA. So, to celebrate the beer that (eventually) launched generations of hop fanatics, we present this imperial version of the beer that made our name among the (budding) craft beer legions. Loaded with gloriously bitter notes of piney, citrusy, resinous dankness, it’s everything we love about our classic West Coast style IPA…properly turned up to 11 25 for the occasion.

Can. Pours a deep copper orange pour with a large beige head. Brings the big Stone aroma of hop octane, fruity sweet with a hint of hop octane. Flavors of citrus and pine, moderately sweet and balanced with a deep bitterness. Classic Stone IPA. Well balanced and very drinkable.

355ml can. Opalescent, orange golden colour with average to huge, thick, dense, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Concentrated and intense, piney, citrusy and slightly tropical fruity, hoppy aroma with a minimal jelly bear touch and perfumed and floral, even minimally soapy overtones, relatively neutral, caramel malty background, amalgamated, homogeneous hints of lemon, pineapple, orange peel, whiffs of liquorice and burnt rubber. Taste is bitter hoppy, condensed hints of pine, orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, rather neutral, caramel malty backbone with very subtle, residual sweetness, perfumed, floral and soapy interludes every now and then. Very oily texture, smooth, soft, silky and slightly greasy palate, very fine, soft, still efficacious carbonation. Very homogeneous, condensed, slick; exactly the bitterness we hopheads loved 10+ years ago before Vermont focussed on juicy fruitiness - West Coast monument.

Can Not sure how the lads did it. But at first (or second) sip you wouldn't tell it has voltage reaching almost 10. High voltage yes, but not that high. Hoppy. Bitter. Solid anniversary brew.

Can at home, 11th December 22. Pours clear and dark golden. Aroma is pine and resin. Taste has me at the first sip - by far the best West Coast IPA I’ve had in a long time, resin, bitter and dank, citrus and more bitter pithy pine, so drinkable for the 9.7, hard to recall a better high ABV DIPA, great beer

Clear golden beer, white head. Smells a little piney with zesty hop. Flavour citrus, grassy hop, pine, grapefruit. Nice bittersweet balance and really packs a punch. Very decent.

12 ounce bottle from the 12 beers of Xmas pack, Woodman's Appleton, 11/27/22. Clear amber, medium white head, average retention. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, resin. Taste is grapefruit, resin, pine. Strong bitterness. Some green hops in the end. Unabashedly a hop bomb. I like.

Bottle, Stone Mix Pack, TWG. Golden-orange with an off-white head. Grapefruit peel, pine, resin, orange, caramel nose. Grapefruit peel, pine, resin, caramel. Nice bitter bite. Don't come across these that often these days. Well done.
