At the Fest zum Reinen Bier in Ingolstadt. Not sure how it was served.. was in the stone mug when I got to it. Enticing aroma full of raisins, caramel and roasted grains. Medium bitter, sweet underneath. Finishes dry and bitter with the hops at last taking the upper hand. Medium bodied, moderate to mild carbonation. Really liked this one.

500ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Slightly roasty, dark malty and slightly caramel malty aroma, hints of malt lozenge, a touch of sugared coffee, weak grainy overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally toasty, dark malty, hints of malt lozenge, a minimally nutty touch, weak, hoppy counterpart, metallic overtones. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Well balanced, clean, maybe a tad too light and simple - decent.

Bottle picked up from a random Getränkemarkt, had this Wednesday 16th November 2022, my birthday we had a Salmon and Cream Cheese pasta meal listening to Marc Riley on 6Music and he just played 10,000 Maniacs from a session, which I suspect was about 88-90? * Update, it was from 1987, I think that it was an Andy Kershaw session, Poison in the Well, Gun Shy, Don't Talk and one further track, great session btw. Pours brown with an off white head. Taste is fine if a little plodding and unexciting, some caramel, everything else verges on the subtle and average, mouthfeel fine, sweetness is moderate, hops are very subtle. It's okay but a little bit pedestrian.

500 ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy head. Roasted caramel, caramel, raisins, dried fruit, licorice, mild citrus. Malty sweetness, mild dry bitterness. Medium bodied, oily creamy texture, soft carbonated, mild dry sweet malty finish. Nice roasty malty Dunkel.

Dark Beauty, hergestellt für Josef Langwieser, Flasche direkt vom Brauer in seiner Schreinerei in Egelsee. - Tiefdunkles Rotbraun, klar. - In der Nase tiefes, brotig dunkles Malz mit feinen röstigen Zügen, zarter Orangenherbe, Vollkornbrot, leichte Karamelsüße mit Rosinen und dezente Hopfung. - Antrunk weich dunkelmalzig mit milder rosiniger Süße und feiner Frucht (Dörrobst). Leichtes Röstmalz, ein Hauch von Mokkabohnen, blasse Kaffeesäure. Nur milde hopfenwürzige Herbe. Milder rezent, vollmundig. Im Abgang fein malzbitter und leicht hopfenwürzig herb. - Ein Dunkles von schöner, weicher Malzigkeit, abgerundet mit dezenter Hopfung, rund aber eigenwillig. Durchaus trinkbar. (12.6.2022.)
