Pours dark brown with a quickly fading light tan head. It smells of caramel and rye. The caramel is prominent in the malty flavor that’s sweet but not too sweet. Rye brings a little dryness.

Draught @ taproom near Logan Square (10/7/22). Dark brown with red highlights, small frothy beige head, dark fruit aroma, low carbonation, initially sweet medium bitter caramel coffee taste, thin body, long caramel finish. Tasty.

16 oz. cans found at Jewel. Passed up some BCS on sale for $10 at Jewel to get a 4-pack of this for the same price. Hearty malty smell under the pop top. Pours a brown, root beer color, plus a fizzy root beer head. Just have to give big ups to the taste: plenty of malt, plus an edge of caramel. Some caramel beers leave a little too much sugar behind, but by going with lactose, they dropped the sugary aftertaste, and with the popcorn, it's added to the alcohol impression. Yeah, a light salt impression too, but not at all like an oversoftened pilsner attempt, say. A hearty brew for fall and winter sipping. Will need to see how it pairs with caramel corn.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark amber with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is caramel, brown sugar, rye. Slick body, caramel popcorn, brown sugar, nice sweetness, very good.

15 September 2022. At Revolution Brewing, Chicago. Shared with the lovely Anke!
Clear dark brown, thin, tan head. Aroma of caramelized popcorn, sugared peanut, candied fig, pear syrup, almond. Taste has sweet fig, pear & plum in a caramelly, sugared-nutty, softly milk-chocolatey malt body. Herbal hoppy finish, lingering sugared nuts, popcorn and some liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average to fizzy carbonation. You could call it gimmicky but it does a pretty good job.
