Draft at the source. Orange amber with an off-white-white head. Tart strawberry., hint of basil, doesn't taste like a hefeweizen.

Draught @ Cultivate, Chicago (August 22). Hazy pinkish orange with a beige head, high carbonation, mildly sweet strawberry taste with basil and banana flavor, creamy body, medium finish with banana and basil aftertaste. Delicious!

Murky orange tan with a large foamy white head that left decent lacing. Sweet, tart and tangy with notes of strawberry and basil. Medium finish and body.

19 September 2022. At Chicago Brewhouse Riverwalk. Shared with the lovely Anke!
Hazy red, thin, off-white head. Aroma of unripe strawberry, cassis, redcurrant, banana peel, wheat, kitchen herbs. Taste has sweetish strawberry & cassis, sourish wheat, bitter berry peel & basil branches. Tart, red-fruity finish, lingering strawberry, jam & herbs, bit perfumey. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Works surprisingly well, for once.

Wasn't excited about trying this till I saw its a hefe, I hope its a hefe. This $3 can from vintage smells very strawberry nice when I pop the lid. When I first pour it, its seems like a hazy brew but once I get to the bottom of the can, all this sediment pours out, just like a good hefe, thank you. Taste at first seems like dull strawberry fruit beer but then it begins to sharpen up in the middle. Not sure I'd call this tart but it certainly borders on the territory of tart. Yes, unlike many fruit beers, it tends to grow on you. Fairly decent co2. This is OK for a one-timer but I don't think I could do it again. The look and smell puts this above average but otherwise, its an average fruit beer. Thank goodness its not another straight up ass wheat ale.

Sample from can at Standard Market. Strawberry in the nose is actually pretty subtle, with basil providing the balance. Fizzy and pale in the glass. Not as cloudy, I think, as a "plain" hefe. Basil comes through nicely in the taste. I think I've likely only had basil in a beer with the "Mama Mia Pizza Beer" ten years ago, but there was too much going on there to remember the basil. But here the spice is gentle. Gives the strawberry a dry edge that makes this pretty complex, and does not make me think of the usual hefeweizen.

5 oz. at the source. Aroma and flavor match. The strawberry tastes natural, mild basil in the finish. Mild yeast. Extract doesn’t really harm it. Mild herbal finish to cut the berry. Lighter bodied and the lady folk LOVE this brew. Clever!
