With this Bock our master brewer has managed to create a very special beer. It was developed based on various old recipes from the Baumburg Abbey Brewery. The basis is the Baumburger barley, which has been cultivated in its own fields around Baumburg for centuries. This is then transported by our partners on site to a small malting facility near Altötting, where it is refined to Baumburger barley malt by an experienced master brewer.

Amber with a frothy, white head. Aroma is an enticing mix of apples, apricots and butterscotch. Taste is moderate bitter and faintly tart with a honey-like sweetness underneath—all of it melding nicely. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, dry, a touch warm at the finish. Pleasant sipping.

Klosterbrauerei Baumburg Heller Bock, Fläschchen vom Craft Beer Store Steffenberg. (11.7.2020.)

Many thanks to Finn for giving me this 330ml bottle that he had bought in northern Finland. Foggy golden body, dense pearl white head, slowly diminishing. Inviting aroma of bread-like malts and herbal hops. Taste of dried fruit, slightly jammy, tolerable honey sweetness, grain, and noble hops. Dry, bittersweet ending. Fine bodied. Likable (at home in Tromsø 14.03.2015).

Flaske 330ml fra Alko Muonio. Flaske 330ml. Gylden.

Bottle: Poured a light golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of light cereal with some caramel notes. Taste is also dominated by some cereal notes with some caramel malt with light grainy notes. Body is about an average with OK carbonation. Nothing really noteworthy here.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - 260715, from Alko, 20140905) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, honey and sweetness. Flavours were malts, honey, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste didn’t last long and had sweetness and bitterness. Poor Heller Bock.
