13th Anniversary Golden Barleywine Ale is a celebration of Fremont Brewing’s Golden Birthday and 13th Anniversary. This blend is a ~new~ golden barleywine recipe that was inspired by our recipe of Aurelius. We blended a small component of aged barleywine, which accentuated the subtle flavors of vanilla, maple, honey, oak, and leather from aging in 8-13-year-old Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Each sip is more special than its last.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey of experimenting, pushing the limits with new recipes, and supporting our passions for our barrel-aged program. Cheers to 13 years and many more!

Bottle at home shared with Laura. Reddish color, small beige head. Aroma is malts, raisins, liquor, light plums and figs. Flavor is malts, raisins, toffee lightly, liquor, quite bitter in the end. There's an initial sweetish flavor, but then that fades and there's a raisin sweetness, and then that passes too into a liquor bitterness. Quite good. Old school almost. A little bit thinner than I would have liked but still pretty nice.

Craft Beer Junction bottleshare, thanks to Wingman. Pretty much a clear amber beer, small bubbly cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy malts, a thin light creamy sweetness. Very mild biscuity caramel. Boozy bourbon barrel fruits, not overly boozy. Ripe crystallised fruits. Nice, I do like these Fremont barleywines but I still don't quite get the reverance they are held in.

Medium amber, kinda murky. Thin head. Aroma has some bubblegum, but on the palate it's cleaner. Sticky sugars, figs, light orange peel. Some alcohol in the finish. Decent barley wine but could do without the wonky bubblegum phenols.
